I don’t think this piece was actually displayed in the Tate collection, but I jotted down this artist’s name because I liked his work. His name is John Heartfield. This is his self portrait from 1920. You can view his work here.
On Friday I went to the Tate Modern, and as it was a spontaneous visit (decided when I got on the wrong bus) I didn’t have my camera with me. However, I did have a notebook and pen and jotted down some of my favourite works. Overall I was impressed with the collections, I have to say. I’ve never seen something along the lines of Picasso, Matisse or Monet, so that was exciting for me. Anyway, I’ll post some of my favourites.
I have been feeling a little bit under the weather, unfortunately. However! I decided to take 5 minutes out of my lazy Friday evening to tell what I got up to today.
I met another au pair, but that wasn’t the interesting part. He was late meeting me, and so, I was lucky enough to stumble upon the set of the new Bond movie. Yeah that’s right, I witnessed Daniel Craig run down a street and into a building 3 times in a row. I didn’t recognize what was going on, because I don’t follow those movies, and celebrities in general. But I thought I’d come home tonight and see if I could figure out who/what was going on. It was really cool!
I’m considering going into film myself, so stumbling upon that today and witnessing the thrill of it, and how everything runs (so smoothly, I might add), was really cool. First celebrity spotting in London, and hopefully not the last.
Then after I met with the other au pair and decided to go home to nurse myself back to health, I got on the right bus, going the wrong way. So I figured it was a sign that I shouldn’t go home. I went to the Tate Modern finally! It was also my first time seeing any original Picasso, Monet, Matisse, Man Ray etc. and I did find it a little mesmerizing. Sometimes I forget that I’m in London, and have access to witnessing these beautiful paintings for free.
Anyway, that’s my five minutes!
